Romantic Weddings in Zell am See
Are you planning on tying the knot? Looking for somewhere romantic and different but still easy to get to for relatives and friends? Want stunning scenery for your backdrop?
Well why not get married in the beautiful lakeside resort of Zell am See. We have teamed up with Austria Direct a small family run english company who have organised 100s of weddings in Austria over the last few years. They organise the venue, the ceremony, the reception, wedding day transport (horse drawn sleigh or carriage) and do all the paperwork. Whats more there's no need to travel to your honeymoon destination, you are already there...
Think it will be expensive? Then think again. Prices in Austria are on the whole much cheaper than the UK and you can probably afford that dream wedding you always wanted.... even of skis if you so wish! It's also a top destination with the budget airlines so it's very easy and cheap to get to, just one hour from Salzburg airport to Zell am See.
Just how easy is it? Two packages are offered through Austria Direct both of which may be extended or revised to suit individual choices, or to cater for larger groups. The first option is for a ceremony in the office of the Registrar, at Castle Rosenberg, which is one of the oldest and most romantic buildings in town. It is but a three-minute drive from the town centre. The ceremony is conducted in English.
Depending on the time of year, after the ceremony horse drawn carriages or sleighs take the couple and guests if desired for a traditional tour along the lake and then to the hotel, or the couple are driven by Cadillac to the opposite side of the lake for a small outdoor reception, before going to the hotel to be greeted by their guests. Alternatively, the ceremony can take place on a boat in the middle of the lake with typical Austrian music. Flowers, Austrian-style wedding cake, sparkling wine, romantic dinner for two and 'Honeymoon Breakfast' in room are included in both packages. For wedding parties, evening entertainment comprising of a DJ or live group can be arranged at the Hotel Heitzmann on the wedding night.
Package prices at Hotel Heitzmann for these two types of wedding include the fees of the Registrar and also the translation costs, thus producing an initial saving of several hundred pounds! For those wishing to fly into Salzburg, road transfers can be arranged for any number of guests. Austria Direct charges nominal arrangement fees when organising 'Heitzmann' weddings, due to the experience of Rudi and Anita, proprietors at the Heitzmann.
Whilst Hotel Hietzmann offers a traditional wedding in a modern setting, there are those couples who prefer to have a traditional Austrian wedding in a traditional Austrian hotel that looks as if it has been there for ever! The four-star Romantikhotel fits this choice superbly and offers a fine alternative. Parts of this wonderful building are more than 500 years old and timber beams are everywhere and the rooms entirely fitted out in wood. Whether you are in one of the many bedrooms or suites, or in the public rooms, there is never any doubt that you are 'in Austria'. Peaceful gardens, indoor and outdoor pools, wellness areas – and excellent cuisine – all go to make this a highly recommended venue for the truly traditional event.
The wedding organiser, Sabine Hörl, a member of the family who own and run both this and the adjoining Hotel Metzgewirt, has years of experience with weddings of British couples and is able to deal with requests for photographers, flowers, live entertainment, transport and all those finer details which go into making a successful and memorable day.
Please note that weddings in Zell-am-See are available only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It is occasionally possible to make a Friday date, but only by special request to the Registrar.
The legalities: Legal Requirements vary from region to region, but Austria Direct handles all such matters. The service even includes official translation of documents as and where required.
In Austria, it is mandatory to have a civil ceremony, irrespective of whether you choose to have a church service or blessing afterwards. Some Registry Offices are in grand buildings, such as MirabellPalace in Salzburg, Castle Rosenberg in Zell-am-See or Seeschloss Ort in Gmunden, whilst others are just nicely appointed rooms in official buildings.
In some places, restrictions prevail where a service or blessing is requested by a couple, when either or both are not of the catholic faith. On such occasions, Austria Direct can sometimes arrange for the use of a nearby Protestant or Evangelical Church, or even the Catholic Church in the next village, since this is only a parochial problem. As a result, the tendency has built, to use those places where no such objections exist, or where they may be overcome. We are pleased to say that the number of places where objections arise is rapidly reducing!
Accommodation: We can help you and your guests find accommodation in Zell am See and often at special reduced rates. Wedding guests who do not wish to stay at the wedding hotels have a wide choice of alternative accommodation in guesthouses and pensions, whilst those who wish to self-cater may select from the wide range of apartments. We know the town well and can advise you on the best locations and of course accommodate guests in our own apartments.
